Israel may yet survive. Hebrew U was ranked #94 in the world. That's not outrageously high, but it sure beats Ramallah University. Wait a minute, I forgot: the Ramallah U students are stopped at roadblocks on their way to school, so they can't study! Maybe if they weren't the youth brach of Hamas, they would be allowed to school.

That way, I can blow the whistle to annoy the guard manning the checkpoint, and he'll let me through.

"We deliberately blow the horns until Israeli soldiers open checkpoints to avoid the resultant hard-to-ignore deafening noise," one of the Palestinians told IslamOnline.net on Saturday, July 24.

Rather more, Israeli soldiers have recently detained drivers with no charges leveled against them.

If I was one of the soldiers at the checkpoint, I would have done far more than just 'detaining' them.

In any case, I do NOT recommend using the whistle method, as you will be thrown into an Israeli jail for many days, seeing sunlight only once a month. They wouldn't just 'detain' you - that punishment is saved for the nice Palestinians.

Sunday: Searched four times

Today, I was searched four times by the harassing Israeli forces.

First, when I went into Hebrew U Haddassah Hospital I was stopped, checked and my bag was searched.

Later, I volunteered in our local MDA ambulance, and our ambulance was checked at the entrance to Haddassah Hospital. Yup, they check ambulances, because we might actually be smuggling in forbidden items.

The third time I was searched was when I entered a department store with my wife. This search was pretty easy, as they saw me with my wife, so the security guard only asked me a few questions to see whether I was a terrorist.

The last time searched this evening was when I went into a small mall near the bus station - I had to pass through a metal detector and empty my pockets of metal. There was a long line, but we were all patient and got through pretty quickly.

I don't exactly recall where, but I read an article about how Israeli's lives are also disrupted by the checkpoints they have to go through due to Palestinian terrorism. I've decided to keep a journal of the checkpoints that I have to go through in my daily life, and publish it on a blog.

In addition, I'll be posting my rants and raves - feel free to comment as you wish. I hope that there will be no need to delete any comments.
